Federico Lehder's private notebook, black leather A5, covering the period from January 1988 through November 1989 — the two years spanning Carlos's Jacksonville federal trial and sentencing.
The notebook contains:
- Federico's contemporaneous handwritten notes on the Jacksonville trial, based on daily wire dispatches he received from a Colombian journalist covering the proceedings.
- Family expense ledgers covering the Bogotá household through the period.
- A contact list of Colombian, US and European lawyers approached by the family for Carlos's defence and appeal work.
- Federico's own reflections on the extradition doctrine and its family cost.
The document is redacted in specific areas — every reference to living third parties and every name not already in the public 1988–1989 record is masked. Redactions are reversible for accredited academic access under a separate access protocol.
This is, per the custodian's understanding, the single most sensitive item in the archive. Federico's written publication authorisation specifically permits its sale on the condition that the redaction protocol is enforced.
